Peppery, airy and crispy shark snack by Calbee

Calbee Pepper Shark Snack

This treat might be able to fix that mid-day craving for pepper. These shark tooth shaped chips are light, and airy. Think cheese puffs but 5x lighter. A simple potato indulgence. As you take a bite, the crispy texture dissolves and the goodness of the pepper settles. The snack has a very mild touch of pepper.

Sharks are scary creatures, and one of our ecosystems top predators! With this snack you have the opportunity to put fear into people around you by perking up your head and chomping viciously. Or it’s an easy snack to plow through in a elegant but savage way. Is this idea?

Calbee is a well known producer of snacks in Japan, created about 74 years ago. You can assume there will be a range of special products being released in 2024 for their 75th anniversary. If you do a quick search, you’ll see an intense catalog of snacks. The name Calbee was derived from their first product Calcium + Vitamin B1. This was a caramel candy promoting the two benefits.

The classic italicised logo was introduced in the mid 90s. The edges of each letter is rounded ever so slightly, I believe the eye catches all of that sweetness, and that compounding effect makes the whole word have a softer appearance. Modern and tasteful till this day.

Next time you're in need of a light crunchy treat, and sharing isn’t an talent, this is a nice option verses a healthy bowl of granola.
